Happy 1st Birthday Noel! (preview)

Noel had a fantastic birthday yesterday! We spent the morning at the Baltimore National Aquarium then headed to Hooters for Lunch! Then we were home for a nap and running errands. Her evening was complete with a chocolate cupcake (just a few bites, but they were delicious!) and a family walk! We think she had a great day!

Here are just a few teaser pics until I can find time to do a better post! We only took about 500 pictures yesterday! ;)

Noel goes back to college!

Noel headed back to University of Maryland today for more testing to help out their Child Development Lab. As you might remember, she had some testing done when she was about 7 months old. Well, they were doing another study that is very similar, but they wanted to test 12 month olds!

Guess where we are going today Noel???

Image

To college!!!!

Image

Wait . . . do I have to wear that crazy cap on my head again?

Image

Hmmm, ok, I’ll give it a try!

Image

We arrived on campus and were taken straight up to the Child Development Lab. I had some paperwork to fill out and Noel played with one of the nice college girls doing the testing. Then we went into a “warm-up room” where a lady sat on one side of the table and Noel and I sat on the other side (Noel on my lap). The lady would show Noel a toy, then push it towards her. Each time, we did this about 10 times, Noel reached for the toy and played with it. Then when the lady asked for Noel to hand it back to her, she did each time. Such a good sharer! Then we headed into the “test room” and Noel had to put on . . . dun dun dun . . . THE CAP!!!!

She was not a huge fan of the cap at first, but she forgot about it soon after! This testing was very similar to what they did last time. Noel and I sat in front of a small stage, almost like a puppet theater. The curtain would go up and down. Sometimes they would show Noel a toy, sometimes they would put a very colorful rotating toy by itself on the stage, and sometimes they would let Noel grab a toy on the stage. When she was allowed to grab the toys, a person would come over fairly quickly and get the toy from Noel. Well, Noel caught on and started throwing the toy across the room so the person had to go fetch it. It was actually quite entertaining! After about 20 minutes of testing we were done!

Take a look at our beauty after the cap came off!

Top 2 teeth

I have been trying for a week or two to get pictures of Noel’s new teeth! Her top two teeth, after several extremely miserable days, have shown themselves . . . and they are HUGE! Jason lovingly refers to her as bugs (as in bugs bunny) thanks to these two chompers which are quite large and have a nice little gap between them.

When I have tried to get a picture of them, this is generally what she does!

Image

Or, she will show me just her bottom teeth. But finally today I got them!

I love this crazy girl! After having pictures of her teeth taken, she decided she needed a rest! But her silly elephant friend wouldn’t let her!

Take that my little friend!

Week in VA

Noel and Mommy enjoyed a week long visit with Grandma and Grandpa Hubert last week! It was nice to spend the week relaxing and hanging out, but we definitely missed Daddy!!!!

First, here is a picture of Noel in her new, new car seat. In a previous post I mentioned that Noel had a new car seat. Well . . . we ended up not liking that one and returned it. So, here she is in her new, new car seat which seams to fit her much better!

Road trip . . . here we come!

Image

Noel was a trooper in the car on the 4.5 hour trip. She slept a little, played a little, cried a little . . . we also sang a lot of songs together!

While we were in VA we got to spend some time with Granny Ruth! Noel took a little while to warm up, but she was excited to see her!

Unfortunately, I don’t have any pictures of the main reason we went down to VA! Caiden, Noel’s cousin, graduated from Pre-School! YAHOO Caiden! He did great at his graduation and looked adorable – you will just have to trust me on that one!

The afternoon of his graduation we had a mini pool party! Here is our beach baby ready to go!

Image

Image

Caiden and Madi were ready to go as well!

Image

Noel was not too sure about the pool at first . . .

But she quickly learned that it was a lot of fun!

Noel thinks her cousins are so silly!

After drying off and heading inside, Madi decided that she wanted to hold Noel while she played.

Then Madi read Noel a story. She is such a good big cousin!

Grandma gave Noel a little piano lesson. She will be holding her first concert in the very near future!

We both had a great time and we can’t wait to visit again!

Noel is 11 months!

We have made it another month! Our little girl is 1 month away from her first birthday! So exciting!

Noel has really entertained us with her personality this month! She is so darn funny! Her facial expressions and the way she mocks our movements and words is amazing! She is an expert roller and can move herself around very quickly by flopping around! She also pushes herself some on the wood floor! Just attach a mop to her and my floors are clean! :)

Noel has picked up on some sign language and loves to sign the word “more” during meals. She loves to try new foods! Her appetite is HUGE!

We go on a family walk every night that we can and Noel has discovered her love for stop signs and trees. She gasps and points to every one we pass!

Here are Noel’s customary monthly photos!
